Visa-Free Travel to China from Cyprus (2026 Guide)

Cypriot citizens can travel to China visa-free for up to 30 days. Cyprus is on China’s unilateral visa-free list — here’s exactly how the policy works in 2026.

The short answer

As a Cypriot passport holder, you can enter mainland China without a visa for stays of up to 30 days for tourism, business, visiting family, exchanges or transit. The arrangement is currently valid until December 31, 2026.

Getting there from Cyprus

There are no direct flights from Larnaca to mainland China, so expect a connection — commonly through a Middle Eastern or European hub such as Doha, Dubai or Istanbul. Including the stop, the one-way journey is typically 12–15 hours. Schedules change seasonally, so confirm current routes when booking.

China is 5–6 hours ahead of Cyprus (6 in summer, when Cyprus observes daylight saving time). A moderate jump that most travelers adjust to within a day. The 30-day clock starts the day after you clear Chinese immigration.

How the visa-free policy works

• Overstaying the 30 days — the count starts the day after arrival; overstaying risks fines and problems at exit.
• Assuming the policy has been extended — it expires 31 December 2026; always verify before booking.
• Using visa-free entry for work or study — it doesn’t apply; get the right visa.

Making the most of your stay

Thirty days is more than most Cypriot travelers need, so you can slow down. A classic first-timer route (Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai) fits comfortably inside two weeks, and the Shanghai–Suzhou–Hangzhou loop makes an easy rail circuit for a shorter trip. Chinese spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are the most comfortable seasons for Cypriot travelers — mild, dry and light on domestic travel.
