Visa-Free Travel to China from Oman (2026 Guide)

Omani citizens can travel to China visa-free for up to 30 days. Oman is on China’s unilateral visa-free list — here’s exactly how the policy works in 2026.

The short answer

As an Omani passport holder, you can enter mainland China without a visa for stays of up to 30 days for tourism, business, visiting family, exchanges or transit. The arrangement is currently valid until December 31, 2026.

Getting there from Oman

There are no direct flights from Muscat to mainland China, so expect a connection — commonly through a Gulf hub such as Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi. Including the stop, the one-way journey is typically 10–13 hours. Schedules change seasonally, so confirm current routes when booking.

China is 4 hours ahead of Oman year-round (Oman does not observe daylight saving time). The smallest time difference of any country on this list — jet lag is rarely an issue. The 30-day clock starts the day after you clear Chinese immigration.

How the visa-free policy works

• Overstaying the 30 days — the count starts the day after arrival; overstaying risks fines and problems at exit.
• Assuming the policy has been extended — it expires 31 December 2026; always verify before booking.
• Using visa-free entry for work or study — it doesn’t apply; get the right visa.

Making the most of your stay

Thirty days is more than most Omani travelers need, so you can slow down. A classic first-timer route (Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai) fits comfortably inside two weeks, and the Shanghai–Suzhou–Hangzhou loop makes an easy rail circuit for a shorter trip. Omani travelers used to desert heat will find Chinese summers (June–August) hot and humid in the east. Winter (December–February) is the best time for southern China’s mild weather, while the north is cold. Spring and autumn are comfortable almost everywhere.
